John Grellinger
John Patrick Grellinger was born in Milwaukee, WI on St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, 1943. John was a proud graduate of Marquette University High School (MUHS) and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. John also played football and was a member of championship teams at both schools. John briefly coached football and taught economics at MUHS before leaving for the steel industry.
John initially started as a salesman at Bell Steel Sales and ultimately became an entrepreneur with lifelong friend and business partner Jim Moynihan. John went on to start Tool Steel Products that supplied Blanchard grinding services in the Milwaukee area.
John met his wife Dona while at UW-Whitewater, and they were married for 55 years with three children (Dan, Mike, and Katie). John and Dona were longtime supporters of youth sports. In addition to attending many games for children and grandchildren, John also coached and managed at the youth level in several different sports.
John was known for his tough exterior but warm and gentle heart. John and Jim shared a passion for hard work, attention to detail, and making quality products.
